Masters in Counseling, Denver Seminary 2012

My journey as a professional counselor has taken me through diverse and rather unique mental health communities. After graduating with a Masters in Counseling from Denver Seminary, I worked with military veterans with mental illness, as well as with missionaries on furlough and in-country. Upon moving to Lawrence in 2013, I began working in the community mental health setting, serving those with severe and persistent mental illness and had the great pleasure of serving high-school students in Lawrence through the WRAP program. Since January 2018, I have again moved into private practice and enjoy the privilege of serving youth, adults, couples, and families. For ten years previous to counseling, I served in Christian ministries supporting international missions and youth ministry. I’ve had the opportunity to travel with and serve alongside youth in many cross-cultural ministries

Through this journey, I have had the opportunity to work closely with those suffering from depression, anxiety, bipolar, substance use, grief & loss, and trauma. My time in private practice has afforded me opportunity to walk with those in full time Christian ministry, struggling with mental health, trauma, cross-cultural stress, and other ministry challenges. My experience with youth (those in their teenage years) and college age individuals has given me a focus on the unique challenges and experiences they face. It has also highlighted the importance of family, friends and school communities they live in – the “systems” they interact with.

My current scope of practice has four main areas of focus:

  • Youth and young adults with mood disorders (such as anxiety, depression, disruptive mood dysregulation), substance use, ADHD and identity issues.

  • Couples and families struggling with relationship issues and mental illness within the family.

  • Missionary and ministry professionals.

  • Those struggling with grief and loss.
